The challenge
In recent years, organisations recognise the critical importance of exercising authority and control over the management of their data. Driven by both the delivery of digital technologies that can help gaining competitive advantage and to make sure to comply to the regulations of the European Central Bank, LeasePlan, aware of the significance of effective data governance, approached Clever Republic in 2021. LeasePlan sought a way to transform their Data Governance policies from theoretical documents into practical, actionable strategies. LeasePlan envisioned a solution that would not only enable implementation across their organisation but also enhance the reliability and accessibility of their data. This initiative aimed to establish a solid foundation for LeasePlan to enable the full potential of their data assets and make sure that data that was used for regualtory reporting could be trusted.

What we did
Clever Republic collaborated closely with LeasePlan to understand their specific challenges and requirements. Based on this, the Collibra implementation of LeasePlan was restored to defaults and was rebuilt based on the most important use cases of LeasePlan. Besides this value driven approach, Clever Republic crafted a comprehensive Data Governance Playbook that translated their policies into actionable and pragmatic steps.
Clever Republic developed tailored training materials based on various roles within the organisation, ensuring that each team member understood their responsibilities and contributions to the data governance framework. Additionally, Clever Republic facilitated regular meetings and communication channels to provide ongoing support and ensure continuous improvement.
What we achieved
In our collaborative efforts with LeasePlan, Clever Republic successfully increased stakeholder engagement from approximately 10 individuals to over 250 employees across the organisation, measured by the amount of recurring Collibra users. By measuring also other implementation’s success metrics, such as the acceptance of data definitions and identifying areas for improvement, Clever Republic ensured that data governance efforts were focused on where they were most needed. As a result, LeasePlan now has a robust data governance framework in place, leading to maximally reliable, discoverable, and understandable data for their operations and adding value- and business cases every week.
